hot jam!

we had the most wonderful and quick trip berry picking last week. organic strawberries in the weekend morning sun--nothing better! little bits is not actually very fond of fruit, but even she couldn't help herself. i do think we ate almost as much as we picked. i have to confess i didn't make it very far down those rows, sarah was very patient with me when i needed to go. readers, this mama baby in the belly is big! and leaning over to pick strawberries out of the patch lost it shine pretty quick!
but never fear...
~ we had enough for a batch of strawberry, a batch of strawberry rhubarb (for sarah) and enough left over to feed all the families at our pre-school open house--and then some!
we had some jars that didn't fill up all the way (one of each) so we each went home with 1 jar of fresh hot jam-- and there is NOTHING finer!
happy summer...

and p.s. the cookbook pictured is nigella lawsons, * how to be a domestic goddess * and it has served me well over the years. mostly english based recipes- which i love. hearty and full of good ingredents.
