new for school

as little bits and i will be attending our local waldorf school one day a week (and hoping to fill our own home class!) i have undertaken the simple task of making her her "school clothes". in my day school clothes were defined as the things your mama made you in late august for your birthday and a mix of things from 2 grandma's. and actually that was quite an eclectic mix.
think calico sewn up with tiny hand stitched peter pan collars meets sears' and penny's denim and jackets with a pinch of nordstom's or filene's thrown in for good measure. patten leather shoes, buster browns, smocked dresses with my brothers hand me down corduroy pants.
it explains a fair amount about my current style!
well here i am constructing my little one's clothes mostly from thrifted felted sweaters (the mosey way!) and also setting about sewing up a few simple dresses and maybe 1 cozy jacket if i get to it...
here's the new dress to add to the pants from last week...
little fabric cut out's inspired by my new friend simone!

time slows...

with the day to myself i have finally gotten the time to complete some cuties that have been on the work table for quite a while now.
these little guys are hand sewn up from my fave medium--felted sweaters.
they are a take on a pattern from a great book on waldorf crafts.
and here they go...

swappies.

recently i had a wonderful time swapping some mosey goods with another like minded crafter,
soulyluna of treebottom wool. soulyluna makes all kinds of lovelies from felted recycled wool. i stumbled across her shop while looking for some wool soakers for miss em. i love her appliqued creatures and especially fell in love with a pair of longies made from a brown wool sweater with mint green polka dots. they have great trees stitched onto each knee (wonderful reinforcement for the little crawlers in your life) and soulyluna even needle felted a few apples on those trees for me! the longies arrived last week and i L.O.V.E. them. the wool is the perfect weight and softness and the fit em like a dream! have to snap some macro shots in the morning!
just finally packaged up her hats and they are west coast bound. hope she is a thrilled as i am with the trade!
