{room to grow}
em's room got a little makeover just cos.
well it did really need some organizing and adjustng as we move from babyhood to toddlerland.
it was a bit sad actually putting away all her small shoes, hats outgrown, teensy socks.
but it was also good making room for her new holiday things - most important was her lovely doll house made especially for her by finnsandflowers.
...more on that later this week!
goosey paints the morning.

{for a friend} part two:tom..workin' it.
a month or so ago i was asked to create a few mosey cozies for some old friends...i shared part one with you a few weeks ago and am finally getting round to part two:tom
i was baffled to try to make something kinda cool enough for this dear old pal...he's a tattooed tuffy and although i had an easy enough time coming up with something for dee (her tastes and mine remain very similar) i was worried about how the mosies would translate into boy. or grown man, really.
i actually worked the wool quite a bit on the machine (something i really never do) and liked how it turned out. it sort of had a needle felted vibe wherein the one wool pice became part of the other...
here is the result...and tom if your readin' hope you liked the fished product as much as me!
this mama got in touch with some of her tattooed ole' days too!
grin.

packed up and ready...
to head to sunny california with my little bits and all the mosey crafty goodness on can fit into two suitcase (whilst leaving room for christmas frocks and clothes enough for baby and me).
yes, indeed we are on our way.
first stop the renegade holiday fair los angeles where we have the pleasure of sharing a table with our old dear friend kimberly from chez-sucre-chez and catch up on old time admist her lovely x stitch pieces! i am determined to finally pick one for em's room after 2 years of drooling over these.
will have to pick out the perfect "e".
over and out.

bunnykiddenmama
em has been on a kick lately about having drawings made for her...she has always loved naming and calling out animals for me to draw and that has now expanded to include things (boots, clothing, her potty!) and loved ones--so cute! and even her favorite bean! she has also become increasingly interested in letters. she wants me to spell out each thing i draw and is esp. drawn to the letter O and M. MOMMA.
if you know me you know that having my not nearly 2 year old spelling isn't something i strive for ( i want to protect that little mind from the rigors of public kindergarten!) but since she has shown such interest - i have obliged. also of note is that i'm not sure she perceives letters as any different than shapes, as you can see above she will ask for me to draw an "0" and then it must remind her of the bean shape and she will always ask for me to then draw the "bean". and last night she sat at her desk and drew in little compact clusters al while saying: "bunny" kidden" mama" bean" boots"...
i find it all endlessly fascinating, of course!

letters from e.
little e rec'vd a package all her own last week...from big e. since people don't often post mail anymore i count myself lucky to have a few close friends, a pacific north west aunt and a father who do so regularly. wee e (as big e calls her) got a large teal envelope full of old hello kitty stationary and she couldn't have been more please. she calls them her 'papers' and will ask me to get them down for her by name and draw bunnies and kitties again and again...
today we are thankful for snail mail from friends who know us just right!
